... and "Jump Starts!"
We use jumper boxes to help prevent power surges.
Jumper boxes, such as the ones we use, DO NOT PRODUCE ENERGY! Instead, the power is stored in battery cells, similar to your own car battery, therefore, a power surge is not likely to occur.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
Auto accidents requiring a Tow Truck happen every day in Hawaii. If you or someone you know gets into an accident, CALL 911 FIRST ... then call us! You should always tend to people and injuries first, however, even minor accidents (like this one where there are no injuries) can require that your vehicle be lifted and/or towed to a repair facility in Honolulu.

CAR CARRIER DOLLY SERVICE
The decision whether or not to use a car carrier dolly, is a decision left up to the owner and/or driver of the vehicle, since they will be paying for the dolly service. Here are some very important facts you should know when making your decision. There are two basic reasons to use a dolly on your vehicle. Dollies are designed to lift your vehicle off the roadway in order to prevent damage to your vehicle's driveline components, i.e. vehicles equiped with an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION and where the DRIVE WHEELS are not supported by any towing apparatus. Dollies are also used to gain clearance (height) on low-clearance vehicles such as sports cars and low riders that are difficult to tow on our rugged streets in Hawaii.
Dollies can also be used to tow vehicles that have been damaged in a severe accident, or, to tow vehicles without keys such as illegally parked vehicles. In this case (adjacent photos), the owner of this ALL WHEEL DRIVE TOYOTA RAV 4 decided on dolly usage based, in part, on the manufacturers recommendations. Our driver helped him ascertain the information by referring him to the "Owners Manual". The Owners Manual is an excellent tool for determining the proper method to tow your vehicle. While some tow truck operators will claim to "know", OUR drivers are trained to NEVER ASSUME. There is no question that this vehicle (Toyota Rav 4) MUST be towed on a dolly / carrier system to prevent serious damage to the "all wheel-drive components".
Here's how it works
The Tow Truck Dolly Car Carrier systems we sometimes use in Hawaii are self-loading, eliminating the need for any additional lifting devices such as floor jacks. This makes the dolly "less intrusive" to your vehicle then other types of dolly systems that require the vehicle to be raised prior to installing the dolly. First, the dolly is placed under your vehicle (see adjacent photo).
The dolly is assembled and the vehicle is ready to be lifted to the desired height. The dollies themselves DO THE LIFTING, using its own built-in ratchet action. Soft nylon straps go over the tire to keep it in place, and thats it, the dolly is ready to transport your vehicle! So rest assured, whatever your situation is, our drivers have the knowledge and training to provide you with the information you need, to make that important decision ... to dolly ... or ... not to dolly. If you have any questions, feel free to call us anytime!
